In general I enjoyed the reading experience of this book but I had two hang ups: the pacing and the characterization of Jake as a victim of the Miller women. I had a slow start with the book but was eventually pulled in by the intrigue of the Florentine diamond and fully hooked once the family drama ratcheted up. Kristi, Jake’s girlfriend, was my favorite character and Jake my least. It frustrated me that over the course of the novel he received rewards his sisters did not. I found the Miller women much more interesting, and the novel would be four stars if it was sans Jake.
