Verity by Colleen Hoover

5.0

I have literally just experienced every emotion possible in the last half hour...I'm in shock, so I'm going to write this review tomorrow when I've had time to process! Colleen Hoover this book is a masterpiece! WOW!

Real Review:

This is not your typical Colleen Hoover romance novel so if your looking for her usual feel good novel this book is not for you. However, this book demonstrates that Colleen Hoover has many different sides to her writing and this should be very exciting for her fans! Colleen Hoover is a fantastic writer and this book is on a whole other level. In my opinion it is a true masterpiece.

This book was definitely not my typical read. I do not like being scared or nervous that someone is going to get hurt or killed at the end of every chapter. I also did not enjoy the constant graphic sex scenes from an obsessed women. However, Colleen still drew me in and I wanted to know why Verity was so fucked up. I hated Verity with every ounce of my soul throughout this book because the manuscript she wrote was FUCKED UP! What kind of mother has those disturbing and twisted thoughts about her children. What kind of mother wants her babies dead and actually does something about it instead of seeking professional help. I was disgusted by her and I thought she got what she deserved in the end. Until I read her final letter...

I am left in shock and conflicted by this book in the end because I have no idea what the truth is. Which version of Verity is the real one? Who do we believe?

In high school I wanted to become a writer. My favorite subject was English and I loved writing essays and reading books in class, writing papers on them was my favorite thing to do in those days. I thought that Colleen Hoover did a fantastic job bringing to life what its like to be a writer. Of course I don't have any experience with how true the experience is since I'm not a famous writer. But I can tell you first hand that it is exceptionally hard to separate your characters from real life. This is what I struggled with most when it came to my "characters" with the little bit I wrote of my own story in High School. I can tell you first hand that the head of a writer can be a dark and scary place. Sometimes it contorts reality and its hard to come back from...

It is because of my very limited experience with writing my own story that I fully believe that there are two different versions to Verity. She is fucked up for writing such a twisted manuscript and faking a coma / being paralyzed. I think its disgusting and I want to know why she did it. Thats why I think there needs to be another book because I honestly do not trust Jeremy. I think he knows more then he's admitting and I think he may be just as twisted as Verity! So I fear for Lowen, Crew and the baby...
