As someone currently studying a masters in criminology and social research this was the perfect read to round the year off with.
From the beginning of his successful career to retirement - we follow Paul utilising his aspiration to become a phenomenal forensic investigator. Throughout this book we learn about his processes, other amazing individuals he worked alongside and about how they cracked cases many believed would forever remain as cold cases.
Not only does this read like a story
Making it accessible to the masses, it approaches the cases with delicacy and truly does display respect to those who survived or are related to late victims in the cases.
It opened my eyes to serial killers as I never knew how much was behind tracking down the golden state killer nor that he had been known by different names prior to each counties cases being linked. I also liked how it addressed the importance of evidence, with our true killer being someone the masses wouldn’t expect and placing eyes on how some killers uniquely operate.
