slow-paced

Can't properly describe all the ways this book fell short.  I'll list just a few of them here.
First was the writing, which seemed inauthentic, like what AI would write.
Second was that this memoir never seemed to dive deep into the author's upbringing and what caused the trauma.  In most memoirs (I read a lot of them) more time is spent describing the persons life and upbringing.  Not this book, it was a short vignette followed by a bunch of woo-woo talk that came across as filler.
Third, the author obviously read a lot of psychology and self-help books.  This results in reciting what her "research" tells her about her personality and her response to the world.  These parts were dry and boring.
Finally, when she falls for the SPECT scan and Dr. Amen's clinics near the end of the book as a way of explaining her psyche and resilience I was done.  The SPECT scan and these clinics aren't legit medicine and their findings aren't proven.  It's pseudo-medicine.

This was not the book for me.
