The Moth Diaries by Rachel Klein
5.0
I really enjoyed "The Moth Diaries". It was intelligent and dark, and reminded me of classic gothic novels.
The story is told in the form of a diary written by our narrator, a young girl attending an all girl's school, whom we never find out the name of. She is dealingwith her father's suicide when she goes back to the school and is happy to see her best friend Lucy Blake again. However there is a new girl, Ernessa Bloch, who is strange and alluring, and soon has Lucy under her spell. The narrator thinks there is something very sinister about Ernessa, and fears for her friend's very life.
During the whole book we are trying to find out if Ernessa is truly a vampire. She is surely strange, but does that make her one of the undead?
I am still not sure what I believe she was. If you like stories that end with all being revealed and explained, stay away from this one! You are left to figure it out on your own and come to your own conclusions.
