I’m a big ruth ware fan and while this wasn’t my favorite of hers, it definitely kept my interest the whole time! it was a slower pace thriller for me, which allowed me to appreciate the writing more, even though I hit a slump around the middle of the story

the plot itself really started off with a bang and I really wish we got to witness more of jack and gabe’s relationship before everything went to hell 😅 I think it would have allowed me to connect to them more rather than presenting them on a pedestal

jack made stupid, idiotic decisions throughout this entire book 🫠🫠 and yes, if she didn’t decide to solve a literal murder, they might have gotten away with it (if it weren’t for you meddling kids ☺️)… HOWEVER, it really irks me when the MCs in thrillers just decide they’re gonna become detectives

the ultimate reveal was a bit of a letdown for me since I pretty much guessed it from the beginning. the character in question was doing weird shady stuff from day one, and the FMC was wayyyy too trusting of everyone to begin with 🫠

I did actually enjoy this one, despite my critique, for ruth ware’s addictive writing!!
