Enjoyed this quick read. Two main things that stuck with me -
At some point Carrie says a psychiatrist told her once that it's important to distinguish between true problems and inconveniences. She says that really she's only ever had 3 major problems in her life:substance abuse, the friend who died in his sleep while they were sharing a bed, and manic-depression . Maybe it sounds simple but to me it was a helpful way to reframe thinking about my own life. What is a true PROBLEM and what it just uncomfortable/painful/difficult to deal with right now?
She also says "if you have the expectation that you're going to be happy throughout your life - more to the point, if you have a need to be comfortable all the time - well, among other things, you have the makings of a classic drug addict or alcoholic." Similar to the above... just a good reminder that no one can be happy all the time, all day, every day, maybe even most days.
