Everybody! by Elise Gravel

3.0

Elise Gravel is a humorous, didactic children’s author/illustrator from Quebec. “Everybody!”tries to teach kids that our common experiences far outweigh the things that make us different. She then lists the many things “everyone” shares (everyone gets embarrassed, everyone makes mistakes, everyone has moments of joy, everyone needs to feel safe and valued, etc), using her quirky monsters to illustrate each point.

I wouldn’t say “Everybody!” blew me away, and I definitely have read better books by Elise Gravel, but this book accomplishes what it sets out to do, and its offbeat illustrations will help to hold the attention of a kid. It definitely has a place on the bookshelf of a kindergarten/primary teacher!
