The Ghost Bride by Yangsze Choo

4.0

3.5 stars. The star of this book and what made it enjoyable for me, was the setting. I learned so much about Chinese-Malay beliefs and culture, the gates of hell and funeral goods. The main plot, the mystery, the semi-romance, the main character weren’t the thing that kept me captivated.

The world of ghosts, the rules of the afterlife, Chinese-Malay culture and superstition were explored thoroughly. Very much enjoyed that.

The second half didn’t address the plot threads I wanted it to.
