Leaving the Atocha Station by Ben Lerner

4.0

Adam, the protagonist of Leaving the Atocha Station, is eminently unlikable. Is it important to like main characters? Not really. Lerner's style is similar to Tao Lin, a tenuous realism where feelings are unclear, and there is a disconnect between expected feelings and realized feelings.

Leaving the Atocha Station is compelling and clever though. Authenticity is at the heart of the book, and the "profound experience of art." I am not sure if I had a profound experience of art while reading the book, but whatever I felt it was good.
