Flaws of characters a main focus:
Yes
This one was really surprising to me.
I went in not knowing if I was even going to finish because it’s one of the longer reads I’ve reached for in a while. But I have to say although the pace is slow this was never boring to me.
The characters and their trains of thought are so intricately worked out that a lot of times when they make arguments you think you’ve stumbled upon an issue with what they just said just for that to be addressed in their next sentence.
It’s was also interesting from a historic perspective, getting insight into 19th century Russian society and its issues.
But aside from that, it was just a great crime novel. This one’s a classic for a reason. Captivating, fun, suspenseful.
No notes.
