Still a fun read — fast, brutal, and addictive in that Chris Carter way. I do like the series, but the formula’s hard to ignore: horrific crimes, faceless killer, Hunter gets personally roped in, near-death showdown (usually him or Garcia), conveniently tragic villain monologue, quick debrief, the end. The details change, sure — but the path is so familiar it takes the edge off the suspense.
