North Woods by Daniel Mason

4.0

4.5 - this book was truly phenomenal and the only place i took issue was the ending, it felt slightly rushed. the writing is completely unreal and i was utterly transported to the yellow house in massachusetts. the author writes with such reverence of nature and unmasks the beauty behind it all, almost allowing it to become its own character in the story. the people felt real, i understood their motivations, and could relate to some of them. it was fascinating to see the way all of their stories interlinked, mostly by way of the house. not at all surprised this was a candidate for the pulitzer, i thoroughly enjoyed it and thought it was unbelievably well done.
