Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng

Question everything.

What is it about? Shaker Heights is the dream suburbs to live in during the 1970s, but all of that is about to change. When Elena Richardson gains a new tenant, Mai and Pearl Warren, her family is enraptured by their presence but Elena knows something is different about them. News of Elena's friend adopting a Chinese American baby spreads like wildfire in the community, especially when the baby's birth mother wants her baby back. Tensions rise further as Elena and Mia have opposing views of the court battle, which pits Elena's family together when everyone starts to take sides, and pressures Elena to dig into Mia's past.

Dun, dun, dun!

What I thought? This book had my head spinning trying to guess what was what and who was who. This town's and Mia's mysteries were nothing like what I could fathom. I was never correct and always on my toes. It's only downfall, and why I didn't like it as much as Celeste's prior novel, was the beginning of the book. I had a hard time following along with the bombardment of names and events of the first chapter. It was so difficult that I has to write a shorthand post-it to keep track of it all. Also, the Richardson's treatment of Izzy drove a spike into my nerves. I couldn't believe it. It all served its purpose, I guess.

In short: Great story, I was always on my toes, but the beginning was difficult to follow.
