A former professor kind of recommended this one to me, saying that it was comedic. The title is, the rest of it isn't. The idea of a mythological creature living in North Carolina as a cook is interesting and original, but the execution of the concept seemed pretty lousy to me. The book has very little plot and the protagonist is too lifeless, empty, and jaded. The novel wants to be a story about a lonely creature living in a world that misunderstands him, but it never quite gets there.
