This is my first captive/captor romance set in this time frame and I absolutely love it! I didn't realize that I enjoyed this trope so much until I looked back in the other books that I read so far and as well as this one and oh man let me tell you! I am obsessed with this trope, I might even read the first book of this series and more GAAHHH!

I love how Royce is overprotective of Kristen, whether he knows it or not he is absolutely taken by her at the moment he realized that he is actually a she LOL. I love Kristen's personality, she is so headstrong, courageous, and determined, all of the qualities which Royce begins to love as well and fall for her. Love it!

The one thing for sure I didn't like about this book is when people are slapping Kristen's butt all the time, no matter what kind of relationship they may have with her whether it's their cousins, uncle or what have you, I found it disturbing. But I get it you know, the year this was published, at the time people didn't regard women's consent as important if anything this just goes to show that books like these have changed now especially in the literature that we read today. Although the storyline is good, it also sets an example of the past and ways for authors and readers alike to take notice of the change of time and learn from this.
