Odd Child Out
by Gilly Macmillan
It was just ok. Some big reveals felt too telegraphed for me to care. Some of the subplots, like DI Clemo's sister, may pay off in the longer series, but in this book as a standalone, I really didn't care. One storyline I did find particularly touching was the point of view of Noah, the boy at the center of the case. The way Macmillan handled the telling of his perspective alone was strong enough to make me increase my rating by an entire star. I'm not sure I'll seek out the 3rd story in this series - I picked this one up kind of at random before realizing I had already read the first book in the series.
