Feathers from the Sky
by Jess Wisecup
Gwyn, though she doesn't know it, is the last known vampire hunter, and Roman, a vampire, is stalking her in hopes of finding out more about the death of his brother.
One of the things I love most about Wisecup's writing is that she writes these incredibly powerful lines that move you, that cut you to the quick, that elicit such power emotions. The underpinning of longing in this book is threaded throughout every scene. Gywn is always reaching for something just beyond her grasp, Roman is chasing something he can never quite catch up to. And Wisecup builds and weaves that tension, that longing, that desire into every chapter.
Both Gwyn and Roman are so melancholic, and yet the tone of the book was never somber. It was thrilling, sexy, heartbreaking, maddening, and beautiful. There was angst and it was fraught with tension. The push and pull of the romance that built between them was heart breaking. So much so that I was tempted to throw the kindle across the room I was so angry. I got lost in the pages and Gwyn and Romans emotions became my own. How Wisecup goes from me cry to making me horny in the same chapter is pure magic.
You already know that her first two books were two of my top reads of the year, and this did not disappoint, I screamed and cried and yelled at the author in her DMs with all my emotions over this book.
