I quite enjoyed Ace of Spades. It definitely feels like a young adult thriller, with all that comes with it: fast-paced, tense, and atmospheric enough to pull you in right away.
I have to admit, the main characters often got on my nerves, but that didn’t stop me from enjoying the read. What really stood out to me were the themes explored (racism, homophobia, social inequality) topics that are very relevant and handled in a striking way. The plot twist was genuinely convincing and managed to surprise me, which is why I’m giving this book a 4.25/5. Not higher, but still more than enough to recommend it.
