shivwaters 's review for:
My Body
by Emily Ratajkowski
Such an amazing insight. I had a lot of preconceptions about Emily Ratajkowski which I’m now recognising as internalised misogyny because every single one of them were wrong.
I found her relationship with her mother especially interesting and I think very significant for a lot of millennial women raised by mothers who were victims of horrific 90s beauty standards.
I listened to the audiobook, as I tend to do with books like this as hearing the author speak it makes it especially powerful. I found her to be such a compelling narrator and I was completely heartbroken her when she seemed to start crying at the end of one of the essays.
