As an Earl Desires by Lorraine Heath

4.0

Camilla(the young dowager countess of Sachse) has been training Archie(the new Earl of Sachse) in his new duties as Earl for about a year now but she's decided it's time he found a wife while she hunts for a Duke. Archie however only has eyes for her, but she won't marry him in spite of how fond of him she's become of him because she is barren and he needs heirs.
Camilla has one interesting secret and one sad secret, either of which she is convinced would make Archie despise her as she feels her only value is the airs she puts on.
Archie on the other hand very much dislikes the aristocracy and wants to find true love, something he thinks will be a challenge in this superficial world he now lives in.
These characters/story aren't nearly as angsty as some of Heath's other work, but sometimes it's nice not to have your heart stomped on repeatedly. This was a sweet story.
