occultivatedbooks 's review for:
informative
inspiring
fast-paced
This book is really meant for absolute beginners.
Large sections of it are devoted to:
1. Stitches
2. Symbolism
3. Color composition
4. Sample patterns
5. Stitch guide for symbols
I was able to skim through it in under an hour to be honest (as I didn’t need the dictionary type info).
There were a few likeable elements: her focus on the meditative slow art benefits; comparing stitching to an above, below creative process; and creating rituals around your stitching to imbue with magical intention (though this was very brief). I expected the book to be more of the latter info so I was disappointed.
