Swift and Saddled
by Lyla Sage
The love story was adorable but I wish the author went more in depth on the characters. Ada’s past divorce and her childhood has her believing she isn’t lovable and that anyone who gets close will realize this. She is starting fresh in a new town to do things her way, but her insecurities have followed her to Wyoming. She does grow and change, but it felt like she only managed to do that because Wes was the perfect supportive man, and not because she learned to love herself. Wes was the literal sweetest, but his need to help everyone was a sign of the lack of value he places on himself. It is mentioned that he is on anti depressants and goes to therapy, but I felt like his character didn’t learn and grown within the story. He was a good guy at the start and was a good guy at the end. He never learned to put himself first or take stock in why he bends over backwards to make sure everyone else thinks he’s a valuable member of the ranch. He doesn’t grow as a character and I thought that was a shame. Still really enjoyed the world that Lyla Sage created here at Rebel Blue and look forward to seeing Teddy and Gus go head to head in book 3.
