The Exorcist by William Peter Blatty
5.0
This cover is probably one of the creepiest I own, and is the perfect one for this legendary horror.
I still remember how terrified I was the first time I watched the movie. It was in 2002, I was 8 years old, didn’t understand a thing of what was happening, but let me tell you, I did fully understand the spider walk scene. I was petrified.
I rewatched the movie in my early 20s, and my adult brain understanding the story made things so much better. It still creeped me out like nothing else, and that was when I fell in love with the story and the demon possession trope in horror.
It was my first time reading the book, as a little experiment, to know how I would feel while reading the scenes that terrified me so much when I was a kid. I learned that no matter the format, this story is excellent and scares me like very few others.
This may be an old one but it’s such a great classic it needs to be read at least once in a life.
