Letter to His Father by Franz Kafka
4.75
emotional reflective sad fast-paced

Beautifully heartbreaking. Kafka’s writing is as beautiful as ever but used in a different way to achieve a different goal in this book. I’ve only ever read his novels so this was quite the change from that. The amount of detail and thought he put into this letter makes it feel like I was peering into his mind rather than reading a book. He is so articulate and pronounced in his analysis of his relationship with his father it’s hard. Too short to give 5 stars but it’s very close.
