The Best American Poetry 2018 by David Lehman, Dana Gioia
3.0

Fitting Gioia's status as editor, a lot of these poems are in love with their elevated vocabulary and diction, stretching into long, breathy lines. This is how I think of Gioia too, as decorous and slightly-too-refined.

There are still good poems here, but as a collection it's a little airless. But it does a MUCH BETTER JOB of picking poems from a wider range of magazines than the 2017 edition.
