This is the latest book in the Chronicles of Nick. If you want something that is absolutely hilarious, sarcastic, heartfelt, and dynamic this is the book for you. Kenyon's writing is so on point, she will have you laughing one minute and crying the next. It's just such an incredibly interesting world that she has built here.
In this book we find ourselves following Nick and the gang on yet another crazy adventure (thankfully a non-zombie one this time). This one is a little different though. Nicks powers are being drained and his friends are disappearing left and right. ***mild spoiler alert*** We also get to meet Caleb and Xev's father!! There are some deep rifts in that family tree and they are starting to mend just the smallest bit. It was also a treat to see Xev get his hair fixed! It's not that god-awful mishmash of color anymore. ***end spoiler alert***
The gang keeps growing, they find more strays to take in then any other set of characters. It's sweet, and I just want to hug them all. I think that this group of people fits very nicely into the cinnamon roll meme, most look like they could kill you but are total cinnamon rolls and those that look like cinnamon rolls could kill you. They are just such a great ensemble cast, and made this book a joy to read. I give it a solid four and a half stars!
