Station Eleven
by Emily St. John Mandel
Just. Wow. This has gone right up into my top three reads of 2018.
I didn't know much about this one before diving in, which is sometimes the very best way to approach a read. From the first pages I was hooked, as this story spun out, gathering characters into its web with such precision and ease.
Yes, it's post apocalyptic. But unlike any I've ever read. This could actually happen. The scale and timing of it, could actually happen, and what we all take for granted could be swept away in a matter of days. I find myself thinking about that even now.
The diverse characters have so much depth - I adored Kirsten and August and Clark. And I didn't see the plot twist coming, it was definitely one of those 'OH!' moments. The reason this is called Station Eleven is so beautifully crafted too, feeding into the entire story line effortlessly.
I'm not going to say anymore, because, like I said, this is best gone into, blind.
You will love it, that I guarantee!
