mon_ique 's review for:
The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby
by Charles Dickens
The first half: "misery, sadness, humor, abuse, sadness, now I'm miserable, should i stop?, Simon Vance is a great reader, i never want to hear him in Smike's voice again, etc etc."
The last half: "looking up, dragging, why are we still on these people, alright i guess that's happy, alright alright."
You almost feel bad for Ralph Nickleby, the man he could have been if only, if only... 'if only' seems to be a constant theme in this book, and that may be the saddest thing.
Yet what misery listening to this book was! I can't think I'd ever read this again.
There is something about Nicholas and Kate that pull 3 stars from me tho. And Newman Noggs may be my favorite. No redemption arc has my heart like his.
