Becoming by Michelle Obama

5.0

"You may live in the world as it is, but you can still work to create the world as it should be."

This book is amazing. Michelle Obama did a superb job; at one point I flipped to the copyright page just to double check that Michelle wrote this alone. Is there nothing she can't do?! The writing is so easy to read but so descriptive and not watered down at all.

I loved learning more about Michelle: her childhood, her upbringing, her college experience at a PWI/Ivy League, her disillusionment with corporate life and her decision to follow her passions even if it meant a huge pay cut. She also held back on a lot of her ambition in order to support Barack in his dreams and raise their daughters which I think is so strong and admirable. Michelle showed herself to be accomplished, smart, strong, funny, vulnerable, humble and relatable -- all of which we already knew :)
