I LOVE JENNY COLGAN BUT....
It's always a great day when a new Jenny Colgan book drops or when I can find an older one. But with this one.....whew, it was a total Debbie Downer. Her prelude to the book led me to believe we were on a start to a new wonderful series but I was so disappointed.
There wasn't one likable character in this book and shouldn't there be at least, one?
I've never put down a Jenny Colgan book. Ever.
I came close with this one halfway through but I kept hoping it would give up a shimmer of light. And it just didn't.
Her books always have a good sense of humor to them or a wonderful environment but this just did not. I wish she had carved out more description of the school and maybe I could have put myself in the story but it seemed to have just been left behind.
The writing is still Jenny Colgan good but it just was missing some of her warmth and color.
I'm not telling anyone not to read it and I'm not telling anyone to read it. If anything, it left me so confused about what she will write about the next couple of books.
