Am I Normal Yet?
by Holly Bourne
4.5
I want to rate this 5 stars, but I can't because I personally don't like how the conversation of feminism was integrated into the story. Obviously it is an extremely important conversation to have, and I appreciate Bourne adding it to the book, but the tone of the conversations about feminism were so at odds with the tone of the book. Most of the time the girls were talking about feminism, it felt like I was reading an article, and not a story.
Now let's move on to the things I did like:
• A N X I E T Y
• seriously though, the representation of anxiety was amazing - brutal and heartbreaking, but so honest.
• female friendships (both good and bad)
• discussions about how friendships aren't meant to last forever
• the humor
• accurate representation of fuckboys
•
• Evie's parents having difficulty coming to terms with her illnesses
• Rose <3
