Master & Apprentice by Claudia Gray
4.0

I very much enjoyed this book, although I had a few issues with it. Growing up one of my favorite book series was the Jedi Apprentice series. I loved watching the master/apprentice relationship between Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan develop and everything they went through. My issue with this book is it takes away some of the closeness they had in that series, they are much more at odds in this book then they were in the books of my childhood. I do recognize that this is a new canon so it’s not going to be, or supposed to be, the same but it did take away some of my enjoyment of the book. Having said that, out of the new Star Wars stories that have come out in the last few years, this is one of my favorites. The story was interesting and moved at a decent pace, they explore a bit of the conflict between Qui-Gon and the Council and I think added a little more context to the strain between Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan in Episode I. I recommend reading this but if you were a fan of the Jedi Apprentice series just be aware their relationship is different in this story then from that books series (I also recommend reading that series, although it is a kid series the stories hold up fairly well).
