Half of a Yellow Sun by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
2.0
I cannot believe how long it took me to force myself to get through this book. I don't like it. I don't like it at all. It's certainly a confronting book, and fairly readable, but the way the story was told made me feel like I was trying to read the story through a giant piece of wool. I found the characters shallow, more as pieces in a story to be moved around as opposed to complex people whom I could relate to.
This is just not a book for me. I feel like I've only really gained a more solid understanding of the Nigerian war, and very little else. I'm sure other people would be able to gain a lot more from reading this book, but I can't really feel anything towards this except a profound relief that I can finally read other things now I've put this behind me.
