The Perfumist of Paris by Alka Joshi

3.0

This was my least favourite book in the trilogy. The description of scents, colours and food was so captivating (especially the food), yet Radha's story did not grab me as much as the first two books. Although to be perfectly honest, Radha was not a character I connected with in the first book. She's now living in Paris, married with 2 children and working at a prestigious parfumerie under the tutelage of a master perfumer. She's trying to balance her career, motherhood and being a wife. Her husband is not at all supportive, which leads to tension in the household. Add to the mix, the appearance of the son she gave up for adoption when she was 13 and her life is completely upended. While I didn't find the book as enjoyable as the first two, the trilogy did come to a fitting conclusion. You will enjoy the book if you are invested in the Jaipur Trilogy, I just didn't like Radha's character and that has most likely coloured my opinion.
