Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi

5.0

This book is one of the best fantasy books I’ve read in a long time. Weaving together West African culture while discussing racism, colorism, classism, and police brutality makes this book both necessary and important. The characters are so different and compliment each other so well. Although I think the romance did not have enough time to develop in order to be believable, maybe the next book will remedy that.

Ultimately, I loved it and anyone who criticizes about how the storyline is cliche or boring clearly didn’t look past the plot to the true meaning of the book.
