"You happen to be my favorite little monster."
"And you're by favorite villain, baby"
I have been waiting for Gareth's book since Niko's book when the cousins have the run-in in the alley. This dark MM romance did not disappoint. Going into this book you definitely want to read and make sure you are ok with the trigger warnings. This started with a prank gone wrong and from there snowballed into the back and forth chaos for Gareth and Kayden. There are highs and low with twists and turns, one twist I wasn't expecting at all.
Gareth Carson has the looks of a prince and the personality of a devil. I'm the devil who'll bring another devil to his fucking knees.
This book really challenges self worth and wanting to prove that you are worthy and seen. Hiding behind a mask that you wear to show that outwardly shows you the picture of perfection but inside is dark. To hide to prove that you aren't a disappointment or different. Kayden pokes at that mask Gareth has constructed and tries to unravel him at every chance he gets to see the real Gareth.
"But you're the one who broke me. You cracked me open, tore me apart, and molded me back together in your image. Now I'm incapable of existing without you. "
I listened to the audiobook for this book and it did not disappoint. The full cast was beautiful and their voices when they braking/cracking due to an emotional scene were perfect, I felt them emotions secondhand. Chapter 36 in particular for me.
I loved the small connections that Rina Kent gives us on the next two books, Hunt the Villain (Vaughn's Story) and Beautiful Venom(Kane's Story). I am so excited for both of them! The Rinaverse is going strong.
