Summary: This is the third book in The Vampire Chronicles. It's a direct sequel to the second book and shows the aftermath of Lestat's attempts to wake the original vampires. It also brings together all of the other vampires from the previous books as well as some new characters. This one is a lot more action-oriented and closer to an urban fantasy than the first two.

Favorite Quote: ...And yet he loved this thing. He loved its smooth white skin, its great dark brown eyes. He loved it not because it looked like a gentle, thoughtful young man, but because it was ghastly and awful and loathsome, and beautiful all at the same time. He loved it the way people love evil, because it thrills them to the core of their souls. (pg. 92)

Review: This is my favorite Vampire Chronicles book so far. It's less gothic and more urban than the other two, which I liked. I also thought the way the vampires were explained in this was pretty clever. There's always sort of a logical problem with vampires because they can't exist forever without turning a bunch of others into vampires or eventually killing massive amounts of people. This is explained away in a way that makes sense in the world and doesn't feel like a cop-out. The world and the lore in this were very interesting, it made me excited to read more of the series.
