Holy smokes! What a ride! This was one of the easiest reads I’ve had in a while and I wouldn’t say that’s a bad thing. It laid everything out on a plate in front of me and I gobbled it up. Simple language, fast emotions and even faster plot movement. Sure, maybe a bit straightforward, but that was no issue for me. At first I was hesitant as the world and main character felt a little too close to that of Ready Player One by Earnest Cline, which probably is way too hard to compete with for me as that is one of my favourite books, but not too far into Warcross I was completely enthralled. I think I read a little bit more than the last half in one sitting, unable to put it down. And when I finished it I was dazed and shaky. I am very glad I already got my hands on the second part of this series since I will be starting that immediately.
