Is it possible to enjoy the story in a book but dislike the writing style? This is a question I have been asking myself throughout my time reading this novel and I’m still not sure you can. Which is contrary to how I feel about this book. Because I did enjoy it. I loved Uhtred’s time with The Danes they were my favourite parts of this book. The characters were great and although this book is fiction it really give a lot of historical information about a very important moment in England’s past. Will I continue to read this series of books despite my dislike for the writing style? Yes, I think I will but I may seek the other books from the library instead of buying them as I don’t see any reread potential with these novels unfortunately.
