Giovanni's Room by James Baldwin
reflective slow-paced
Plot or Character Driven: Character
Strong character development: Complicated
Loveable characters: No
Diverse cast of characters: No
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

Baldwin's prose has an irregular rhythm that took a little getting used to and I found myself stuttering over his words for the first chapter or so. But once I got into it, it wasn't a big deal and I enjoyed and appreciated it for what it was. I think this book does what it sought out to do and does it well. However, I think maybe this just isn't the style of storytelling I find most captivating. Regardless, much love to Baldwin 🫶🏽♥️
