A wonderful Golden Age historical fiction mystery classic. When a large deed box is opened at a very respectable law firm and found to contain a corpse, the newest employee and Inspector Hazelrigg must figure out who Mr. Smallbone really was and how he ended up in a box. What is going on at Horniman, Birley, and Craine? Fans of Golden Age mysteries will thoroughly enjoy this novel.
