I received this as an ARC in exchange for an honest review from Gallery Books on Netgalley.

Hayden is a twenty five year old tattoo artist. He is a reformed bad boy. He used to party and do drugs, but now he life is on track and he has a close group of friends and enjoys his work at the tattoo parlor. He expresses himself through his art and he is very talented. He isn’t looking for a relationship, but then he meets Tenley who works across the street at his Aunt’s book and antique store. Their connection is immediate, but each of them are sort of hesitant because of their wounded pasts. Tenley comes to him wanting a tattoo that has a very deep meaning behind it. Hayden agrees to do the tattoo and he becomes determined to find out the story behind the tattoo. These two have each experienced a horrible tragedy and it leaves them wracked with so much guilt and feelings of inadequacy.
This is a story that has been done before, however, I feel like it was well written and I absolutely loved how much tattooing was part of the story. Hayden’s tattoos all have meaning to him and he has an emotional link to them as well. Tenley wants to get a tattoo for the same reason. I never thought of tattoos of providing emotional healing before, but the author illustrates this very well and it was a big part of what made me like the book so much.
I felt like the relationship between Tenley and Hayden was very realistic and the sex scenes were perfect and not overdone. It did end on a cliffhanger, so beware.
4 stars!
