Red Rising (Parts 1 & 2) by Pierce Brown
5.0
Loved this, very compelling, just wanted to keep listening to it. Definitely screwed myself by choosing to listen to the graphic audio (it’s so good) because now I will only settle for graphic audios and each book is released in two parts on audible (!!!!) so double the credits.
Super interesting dystopian world with different ‘colours’ of people equating to different classes of society, set on Mars in the future after the human race has migrated from Earth.
Some parts were so difficult to listen to, because it’s set in such a brutal world. This first book was definitely a commentary on civilisation, told through a real-life fort/siege game scenario, with politics and tactics heavily influencing the success you have in the game, how you become a leader, and with one ultimate winner.
I find the FMC Darrow super likeable, definitely helps that he’s come from the dregs of ‘red’. I really look forward to reading the next book to see where it takes him next with his new found winning ‘gold’ status.
Reread: 5⭐️
