I had been putting off reading this one because I knew it would be a tough read but wow, this really blew me away. A mother has lost her son in a car accident and even though she knows he’s gone, she’s just not ready to let go. He was the center of her world, the love of her life and she doesn’t know how to move forward without him. This is the biggest fear for many parents—the loss of a child. It certainly is for me. Hightower explores this grief in such an honest and nuanced way. We are faced with the question, what would you do and how far would you go to bring your child back if there was even the slimmest chance?  It’s devastatingly beautiful. Wonderfully written with a deep emotional impact. The ending is a gut punch! This is perfection.
