Neuromancer by William Gibson

A lot has changed in this cyberpunk world my friend, and I'm going to make rapid and constant passing references to all of it, using the new names we call everything by, whilst explaining none of it. It's going to sound so much like you're listening to a buzzword-loving stereotype from Shoreditch that you're going to want to go there and burn the place to the ground. Drugs. Drugs are cool. Except they're not, this woman Linda is on lots of them and it's destroying her, probably. But I am also on drugs and it's good, maybe, or maybe not, really I'm just using it as an excuse to talk about lovely Linda. This lovely woman with her woman name. Not like men, who don't have man names, apparently. Men, who are all named after nouns. Not Proper Nouns, which are actual names, but just ordinary, regular nouns, that are also proper in their ordinary way, nouns like Case, and Wage, and Ratz. With a Z. This book is very clever. Throwing all the information at you and making it your problem to try and understand any of it at all makes it very clever indeed. It's a classic, you know.
