This installment in the series is like the character building montage. Auren is learning to stand on her own two feet (literally) and by the end, has a really good grasp on her magic. This book was definitely a growth period, and while I would raise my brow at Slade getting a little too overprotective/possessive like Midas, that concern was also seen by Auren. I would be worried about her character development if she didn’t question it. The ending had my jaw on the floor and I am already 8% into the next book. I HAD to know what happened!
