Castle Waiting, Vol. 2 by Linda Medley

5.0

Just finished the feminist fairy tale Castle Waiting, vol I and II. It’s a graphic novel that tells the story of a castle that’s past it’s hey-Day (the Sleeping beauty castle) and is seen as a place of sanctuary. The characters living in the castle all came together in unique ways and the story flashes back in time to show each character’s backstory. In the first half of volume I, Jain is pregnant traveling to the castle for a safe place to have her baby, whose father died. I wanted to know more about her but We learn more about her history in Volume II. The second half of volume I explores the backstory of Sister Peace, the Solistine nun who abides in the castle. I Loved loved this story! In volume II, hammerings visit the castle for a favor - we learn the backstories of Jain, Ms. Cully, Dave , and the doctor. The book is so funny, wholesome, entertaining. The attention to detail in the art helped me slow down in reading this. Five stars for a fun graphic novel! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
