A Winter's Promise
by Christelle Dabos
Absolutely stellar world-building--with creativity and visual surprises to rival Miyazaki. There is not much plot--truly: keep the main character alive as she discovers the mechanizations of a brutal new society. There is also no romantic payoff in this book. The main character contains multitudes and is talented in her own right and she's a little boring, too, which is okay by me, a fellow boring person. Looking forward to seeing where this goes in the next book.
