This is so hard to rate… how you’ll feel about this book depends entirely on whether or not you’ve watched the movie, and how (or if) you read the series.

As a stand-alone book, it’s pretty good. A little all over the place but good.

If you’ve watched the movie, you have to go into this knowing that the movie was *loosely* inspired by the book. It’s entirely different. The book characters are less likable (although it’s hard to compete with Sandra Bullock), the setting is entirely different, it’s not as lighthearted, and the vibe is way less witchy.
As a part of the series…. The continuity falls through.. a lot. But it’s not enough to really ruin it. I do 1000% recommend reading in chronological order though, if I’d read Practical Magic first, I don’t know that I would’ve cared to finish the series.
